This was one awesome graphic novel that went to the movies. Unlike other characters coming to life from print to the big screen, the same graphic styles made itself apparent in this movie. The glory of war is brought to a very visual art form. This movie should have been titled, The Art of War.
The Fountain is a very spectacular movie. From the director who brought you Pi and Requeim for a Dream, The Fountain begins through a very mysterious ancient past where tribesman protect sacred grounds. Flashing back to the modern past, we find clues how things have come to be, for our protagonist living in an ultra mysterious present. The Fountain distorts time and space with superb visuals, dynamic filming and dramatic story.
The special features inside the DVD is something to check out. Usually I’ll skip and pass these sections, but once in a while, you get an interesting behind the scenes type of scenario. You’ll find a bigger story behind the movie.
